I think that the personality-changing situations are all brain-trauma related. Most people just, you know, develop their shadow functions or become healthier/less healthy versions of their type.
Category: not a typing post
why do so many mistakenly type as an infj? one of the rarest types? lol i dont get it.
Typing by test:
People with strong shadow functions or with activities that are atypical of their profile probably don’t test very well, and are probably also less likely to see themselves reflected in their correct profile. (STPs with strong Fe/Ni, SFPs with strong Ni, SFJs with strong Ne, NTJs with strong Fi, NTPs with strong Fe. Bookish Ss, quiet Es, organized Ps, empathetic Ts.)
Typing by profile:
The stereotypical INFJ profile has some nice attributes that a lot of people value or strive for: empathetic, analytical and prescient. It also claims that they’re rare and special and misunderstood. The misunderstood bit is like one of those logic problems where almost every INFJ feels misunderstood, but most people who feel misunderstood are not INFJs.
Typing by functions:
Contextualizing theory is hard! Even if you correctly identify your functions, you still have to correctly order them – and what if you’re shadow-functioning?
Typing by example:
So many wrong examples floating around 😦
I was completely blown away and surprised when you typed Louis Ck estj but it’s starting to clicl. His Ne and overall P-ness vibe is super strong but its mostly due to his being a comedian. It’s easy to get stuck on all the P types for him tho… I considered them all never thought about any kind of j type
I generally find that typing is a never-ending exercise in rewriting my own assumptions.
what makes you think that ellie goulding an extrovert? she doesn’t do a lot of eye contact with the interviewer/host and she’s not as enthusiastic as enfp in general. she’s too calm to be an extrovet. wdyt?
I think I’m right about her being an extravert, but wrong about her being an ENFP. She’s definitely a J-type, and I’m sticking her in ENFJ for now, but maybe she’s an ESFJ.
A lot of extroverts don’t have a lot of eye contact for varying reasons, which is why I gave up on it as an indicator.
idk but Matty Healy seems a lot like an ISFP or ESFP to me. YOU’RE PROBABLY GETTING A LOT OF ASKS BUT YEAH SORRY
Maaaybe. I’m going to swtich him to ESFP, but I think the main problem is I haven’t got a huge range of ESFPs in the tag (the ones I find easy to identify are also really easy to find) so there’s no one in there who seems a lot like him.
Hi, I know it’s an old post (sorry), but you typed Mayim Bialik as an ENTJ and I was wondering what your reasoning is. I’m finding her kind of difficult to type (she reminds me a lot of my INTP self, but she’s also super driven/hardworking and I’ve never seen an INTP who isn’t lazy af), but I’m pretty sure she’s an introvert. In her Youtube videos, she’s talked about having social anxiety and how she’s always felt like she doesn’t fit in with other people. She seems kinda weak Fe to me, but Idk.
I mean, how many people out there relate to being not only a female NT child actor, but also the lead role on a network sitcom? That seems like a pretty singular experience. And then on top of that, there’s the orthodox judaism, and the neuroscience degree.
Every type has someone who experiences social anxiety. Every type. Some more than others, but every type.
As far as NT female child stars in movies, she’s a lot more Mara Wilson than Evanna Lynch.
Thank you soooooooo much for typing Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder! Seriously love you.
Welcome!
I’m a big fan of Sarah Paulson and I also have a quite vast understanding of the MBTI and I must say that she does appear to be an ENFP
She is a lot like all the other ESFJs I moved from ENFP recently.
Why not esfj for Anna Kendrick?
She’s definitely an ETP. Possibly ESTP instead of ENTP.
How about enfp for Anderson Cooper?
No. Don’t think so.
