Do you watch Amazing Race and is that how you typed Joel Ground? I can’t find videos of him anywhere online so am curious how you typed him. Thanks!

You can see a little bit of him here:

He’s pretty quiet so unless you can access the clips on the ctv.ca site, most of the teasers that feature him just have Ashley talking.  The show’s only a couple of weeks in, though – you might have better luck if you wait a while.

hey a year ago on jan 26 2015 some anon said “Pretty sure George Harrison was an INFJ?” and you disagreed. I was curious on why you disagree and what do you think or know what he was actually?

Uhh… well, I had him in ENFJ at the time, but if you’ve done a search recently, he’s now in the INFJ tag.  I kind of realized I was setting the division between extravert and introvert at a little too introverted, particularly for N types, and have since been trying to fix it.  The NFJs, NFPs and NTJs have all undergone some transformation lately, with NTPs to come.

As a general note for people who have sent asks about “why x type, not y?” for a specific person, I apologize – I haven’t been answering these for a while.  Please don’t stop sending them (I do find them useful!), but other than typing new people, I’ve been more preoccupied with general things like the I/E split, or where do I find ISTP women?, or ISFJ men…???, or why am I confusing this type with this other type?

Eventually I’ll get around to checking out everyone, I promise.  In the meantime all I can say is that anyone I’ve typed is in that tag because they reminded me of someone else in the tag.

roseblight said: I would have put money on [Aaron Tveit] being a T but I suspect you’ve put a lot more thought into this than I have

Never suspect that!

I also had the impression (pre typing attempt) that he was a T from my limited exposure to him, so I ended up watching a couple more interviews. I think he’s an ENTJ that shadow functions a lot more in some interviews than others, and I just happened to catch only the shadow function-y ones the first time around.

I find it really strange how ISTPs and INFPs tend to be confused a lot. Like a lot of people think Johnny Depp is an INFP. Same with River Phoenix. And I know you thought Evan Peters was an INFP before watching interviews. Why do you think this is? I’m an INFP and I identify with quite a few ISTPs and I really find this bizarre seeing as we share no functions.

Well.. introverts and P-types.  If you are pretty quiet, people can sort of fill in your motivations for you.

I think there’s also a strong tendency out there to forget that T-types have feelings.  Or that S-types also use their N-functions.  In kind of a macroscopic way, people are not all that different from each other – weird, quiet and sensitive applies to a large number of people from a lot of different types.

sorry to be asking you yet another question – you must be drowning in these – but I was thinking about the difference between introverts and shy extroverts. I’ve been trying to type a friend for a while and INFP just isn’t fitting, I never considered ENFP before because all the ENFP’s I know are just soooo outgoing. Since you really pick up on type-body language what would separate a shy ENFP from an INFP. (Already went through the tags, got lost and even more confused)

The introvert extravert thing is really hard to put into words.  The best I’ve come up with is direction of focus, which is… pretty much just repeating theory, and not very helpful.

Maybe think about your friend’s relationships… how they orient themselves in a group (do they draw others to them?  Are they draw in instead?).

I wrote this a while back, maybe it will be useful:
