what are your thoughts on The Nine Enneagram Personality Types

I tested as a 9 (possibly with a 1 wing?) but never really got into it. I find the descriptions kind of negative, which is a turn off.

I liked Directional Theory, though, and it was kind of interesting to have a personality system that takes into account levels of mental health.

I can’t do the functions thing, because I do not type by functions, but you may be right about him being an ESTJ.

Can we talk about Ewan Mcgregor? I’m trying to type my brother who tests as ENFP and ESFP. I can’t decide which and my bro just doesn’t care about knowing his type, which made me think ESFP but he’s also 53 and doesn’t give about this stuff. But as an INTP I do. My brother has the same smile as Ewan Mcgregor and is also into restoring motorbikes, outdoor sports, plays 2 instruments but has always had a poetic NF-ish side. He also did theater in high school and falls hard in love, when he does.

I watched vids of Ewan and wanted to know exactly why you went with ENFP
for him instead of ESFP bc Im split between the S/N. What tips someone
over into N or S? EP’s are the ones I have the hardest time to pin down
and I’ve known my brother all my life and that seems to make it harder.

A bit more: I get along great with my brother but there’s also a big age
difference so he was like a 2nd father growing up. All that said, he’s
super warm and enthusiastic so he has the fun bro/dad aura. Always
well-liked, could have been popular but he prefers the edges and doesn’t
like to stick with one group of friends. Liberal all the way. Almost a
socialist. Very outspoken about issues and politics, can talk to anyone
but likes to hide out at his house and work on his music or hobbies a
lot

I think I’ve got Ewan typed wrong and he’s actually an ESFP – I hadn’t watched him in a while, but he keeps pulling ESFP faces and laughs like an ESFP I know.

I agree it’s sometimes hard to type the people you know really well, because how do you tell what is type-related and what’s just mutual understanding from knowing each other for so long?

I see you moved Zooey Deschanel from ENFP to ESTP, not sure where you’re getting that.

Sort of a reaction to the Rooney Mara discussion. I’ve never been really comfortable with my typing of Zooey, so she’s gone through ISFP, ENFP, ISTP and ESTP. I think she’s an S-type, but she does kind of give me an impression of being *like* Rooney.

(I’m back to ISTP, again, for the record, although maybe she is an INTP and I’m just putting of the inevitable.)
