Pretty sure on ENFP.
Category: not a typing post
Hey ♥ I have a question (but feel free not to answer it): do your ideas about the types of people you know in real life shift around as much as for celebrities on your Tumblr?
Um… sort of.
I think in real life, I don’t really go around typing everyone I know – it makes it difficult to sit and talk to someone if I’m trying to analyze them at the same time. I sometimes get Si telling me immediately what type they are – even just walking around in a mall, say, I occasionally bump into random strangers who remind me of someone I’ve already typed.
For people I’m not really sure about, they often just stay not typed (since I don’t actually have to organize them into tags) until I figure it out later – or not. Having to keep tagging people helps figure them out faster, I think, but it also means that the decisions I’m pushing myself into making about them are wrong a lot more often.
So sometimes real life people will influence my typing and sometimes the celebrities inform my typing of people I meet, but generally I make more changes to the site since I just have more people and more variation within type on here to juggle.
Thanks for typing Lev Grossman! ENTJ makes so much sense.
You’re welcome!
Hiya, So I believe I’m an INTP, but for years I thought I was an INFJ. They seem to be the types I’ve most seen mistaken for each other. Perhaps because they both seem very reserved and removed from reality (Se-inf. for INFJ, Si-aux. and Fe-inf. for INTP)? I’ve seen people like Mahatma Ghandi, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Yoda (not a person lol) whom people type as INTP or INFJ without consensus. Curious of your thoughts. What are the differences and why are the two so often confused?
Hm. I think it’s just that they’re outwardly INs with Fe that causes the mix-up. I find INFJs and INTJs a lot closer, since their body language is so similar. So I guess look for people who walk and talk like INTJs but who are projecting Fe?
My thoughts on people confusing other people for INFJs are mostly that they’re rare, most people only see the part of the INFJ that they’re comfortable sharing, and INFJs like to fume silently instead of correcting people when they’re wrong (joking/not joking). There’s a huge space the INFJs are not loudly claiming, so it gets filled with the likeliest candidates.
Looking thru the ESTP tag and Tom Cruise looks like he fits ESTJ more than ESTP. Do you feel strongly that he’s ESTP?
Yes. He’s into extreme everything (has been since he was a kid) and has poor impulse control. ie, not a J-type.
Okay, my bad. Re-typed along with a bunch of other people.
Hey- thanks for doing Lazslo Nemes and Geza Rohrig.
You’re welcome!
Bill Cosby is under review too. What made you doubt ESTJ for him? What about ESFJ?
To be honest, I typed him as an ISTJ originally and later thought he was probably more of an extravert and then moved him without rewatching. It happens a lot. I doubt ISTJ. I haven’t taken the time to figure out if he actually is an ESTJ or not. I will take ESFJ under consideration.
I definitely see River Phoenix as a INFP… I did a study at college about INFP’s and he fits the criteria easily.
Duly noted.
what makes you think frank o is an extroverted rather an introverted & a T over F
I think he’s an S type with Fe, and beyond that I haven’t been happy about whatever tag I’ve put him in for very long. infj-zen suggested ESFJ to me, which is the only s-type with Fe he hasn’t been tagged with, so we’ll see how that goes.
Vivian maier D: please theres nothing about her only pictures (and a doc) and youre the only one i know that can type people just from seeing their pics so pls help me
Uh… I don’t, actually, type from pictures. I look at pictures and take them into consideration while typing, but it’s never the only thing I use (I am wrong about pictures at least half the time). Sometimes I can guess the right type if the subject is smiling – muscle tension is fairly type related. It also helps if there are lots of kinds of photos – group shots, red carpets, paparazzi snapping their daily lives, etc. I can guess at an understanding of their choices if I understand culturally where they’re coming from, so it helps if they’re still alive, wearing western dress etc..
I do move people around a lot when their picture looks wrong in the tag, but I already have the knowledge of what they’re like in motion when I do that.
Unfortunately I have no idea about Vivian. I can’t build up an idea of her as any type in particular from self-portraits. Her face is slack – no muscle tension, except for in one photo (I’m not entirely sure is her), where possibly she’s just squinting from sun. I have only her point of view. It’s not enough to go on.
