Hey. In your opinion what are some differences that you may have noticed between thinker girls and thinkers boys and feeler girls and feeler boys

In a word: socialization.

I don’t really know how to answer this more specifically (or more generally tbh), because it depends entirely on cultural/institutional values + personal/family values and how the expectations of how you should behave according to those values clashes or agrees with you as a person.

I don’t think I would be comfortable pointing to differences and saying the reason for them is gender without considering the intersection of a great many other factors.  Sounds like an interesting graduate thesis for an enterprising academic, though.

I’m trying to decide between ENTP and ENFP for myself, what do you see as some key differences when you are typing others besides the typical T v F stuff?

This is tricky for me, too, to be sure.  I don’t really have a lot of physical differences to impart to you – sometimes the Fs will smile more, but not necessarily.  I think I am mostly going by how they feel to me (and if they directly map onto another person I’ve already typed), which is no doubt unhelpful to you.

One thing that is a dead giveaway is that if you have Fi, you will likely have a problem with emotionally detaching from arguments or other heightened competitive-type situations – you might get defensive and/or upset when people don’t agree with you when you have a personal stake in the outcome.  Once you get defensive, it might be hard to back down without physically leaving the situation.

Sam Smith talking about how emotional he is but never actually getting emotional on the outside is an indicator of Fi. Kristen Stewart does the same thing.

Honestly, I’m curious why do you type Jesse as INTJ. I think he is an INTP.

Okay, I’m going to answer these both together.

If you watch Sam in every interview he’s kind of at a baseline state of… polite but nervous energy, I guess. It doesn’t change no matter which interviewer is asking him questions.  He’s emotionally steady.

Jesse is pretty steadily anxious, but his anxiety levels rise and dip depending on who he’s talking to.  Sometimes he’s enjoying himself and sometimes he’s calm and thoughtful and sometimes he looks desperate.

Kristen is… okay, I’m honestly surprised anyone thinks she’s unemotional.  I think you’re all confusing emotional with emotive.  Not one of these three are particularly emotive, but Kristen in interviews is sometimes angry and sometimes passionate and sometimes playful and sometimes completely shut down.

What is Fe charisma? What is Fi charisma? Te and Ti don’t have charisma so skip them, ha! ;)

I think I’ve mentioned before about ISFJs and ISTPs kind of being alike… Fe comes across to me as physically occupying space sometimes.  Like being smothered by a blanket, or like… the hush in an aquarium, or the calm before a storm.  It’s heavy.

Fi is not really about charisma so much as it is about charm.  When turned on, it’s a little more light and sparkly.

T-types also have Fe or Fi, as well… just sayin.

another question: how do you separate high Fe users (xxFJs) and low Fe users (xxTPs)? I know I use Ti and Fe, not Te and Fi… but I can’t be sure whether I’m NFJ or NTP…

Sorry I’ve taken so long on this one – I got really tripped up over the functions typing thing.

I don’t really separate high and low Fe users actively (other than occasionally noticing someone has a lot of Fe) – it’s just a happy by-product of the rest of the typing process.

As far as NFJ vs NTP… my INFJ and INTP tags are pretty decently accurate right now.  If you’re watching video, I’ve been spending a lot of time lately looking at hands and arms (a lot of interviews from the waist up).

J type hands have a particular slow, deliberate, rhythmic beating that they tend to keep up while talking, which is especially apparent in the INFJs and INTJs, although lots of other Js do it too.  P type hand movement tends to follow thoughts in a more organic manner, and Ps also tend to carry a lot less tension through the arms and shoulders in general.

I find it really strange how ISTPs and INFPs tend to be confused a lot. Like a lot of people think Johnny Depp is an INFP. Same with River Phoenix. And I know you thought Evan Peters was an INFP before watching interviews. Why do you think this is? I’m an INFP and I identify with quite a few ISTPs and I really find this bizarre seeing as we share no functions.

Well.. introverts and P-types.  If you are pretty quiet, people can sort of fill in your motivations for you.

I think there’s also a strong tendency out there to forget that T-types have feelings.  Or that S-types also use their N-functions.  In kind of a macroscopic way, people are not all that different from each other – weird, quiet and sensitive applies to a large number of people from a lot of different types.
